During the era of whaling and it's profitable years this building and business was a local success and employed people while earning profits from oil and candle manufacturing.
In March of 2010 there was a lot of controversy surrounded these buildings as a local hotelier renovated the building that was the last existing oil works and try-works in the Whaling City - New Bedford, Ma.
However here are some older pictures of the facility that was a major producer and an important part of the local whaling economy. At the bottom of the page are some links to the 21st century new stories concerning this issue.
