The Union Street Railway served New Bedford and the outlying communities with electric trolleys for many years unti buses came to replace them.

"I rode these buses! On Sunday they sold all day bus passes for 50 cents. My brothers and I would ride all day to the ends of the lines and back"

"The area was rife with decadence in the1950's with prostitutes, heroin dealers and shadowy figures lurking in the corners."
