The Commodore Morris was an old vessel at this time (1905) and in 1857 records show at least one trip from Falmouth Ma. to Australia.
It was built and registered in Falmouth, Ma and was one of the few whaling vessels registered there and built in Woods Hole at the present day site of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.
Falmouth had a smalI place for spermacetti processing. The ship also came to port in New Bedford.
