Late 1800's The Hacienda Buiding
New Bedford, Ma.

The Hacienda Building was erected in the late 1800's in New Bedford on the corner of 923 Acushnet Avenue.

Later street numbers changed, and in 1909, it was listed as 941 - 953 Acushnet Avenue.

The Pease Prescription Pharmacy was a drug store located on the northwest corner of Cook & Smith's Hacienda building.

It was one of the most complete and elegantly furnished drug stores in the whole city.

The pharmacy was established in 1887 and moved into the Hacienda location in 1893. The store also carried a full line of seeds.

Several other stores were located in the building creating a one stop shopping area for local residents.

The "People's Party" had their headquarters in the southwest part of the building in 1908.
The Hacienda Hall in the building was the site of many meetings of social groups and functions.
